The global 5G smartphone shipment in 2019 reached 19 million units and Huawei top the list of 5G smartphone makers with 37 percent of the global smartphone market share, says a report.

According to research from Strategy Analytics, Huawei shipped a total of 6.9 million 5G smartphones in 2019 with a 36.9% market share, followed by Samsung at 36 percent. Vivo, Xiaomi, and LG make up the rest.

“Huawei is number one and shipped 6.9 million 5G smartphones worldwide in 2019, capturing an impressive 37 percent market share. Almost all Huawei’s 5G smartphones were shipped in China, where US sanctions have made relatively less impact,” said Ville-Petteri Ukonaho, Associate Director at Strategy Analytics.

Last year, Huawei started its 5G smartphone campaign with the launch of Mate 20 X 5G, available in almost every 5G market. Later in the year, Huawei introduced flagship Mate 30 5G, Mate 30 Pro 5G, Mate 30 RS Porsche Design followed by the Mate X 5G foldable phone and the Huawei Nova 6 5G.
