Huawei to outpace Samsung in Q1 2024 foldable phone market: Report
According to the latest foldable phone market report shared by DSCC, Huawei is expected to overtake Samsung in the folding phone franchise for Q1 2024. The company has started covering an efficient growth rate in this field since last year.
DSCC research firm recently published a report on the foldable market progress in 1 year. The information highlights the data from Q1 2023 to Q1 2024 for more than the top 10 smartphone vendors in the world along with Samsung, Google, and Huawei.
To begin with, the report depicts that the foldable phone shipment has increased by 33% YoY in the fourth quarter of last year with 4.2 million units. Besides, the foldable market could hike by 105% YoY in the first quarter of 2024.
Huawei vs Samsung
Ahead, the report states that Huawei may snatch the crown of ‘king of foldable phones’ from Samsung for the first time – thanks to the Mate X5 and the Pocket 2 vertical flip-flop model. Another major contribution to the Chinese firm’s success is the lack of new products from Samsung.
Moreover, Huawei’s growth will also help the folding device franchise to climb up with a 105% YoY growth rate. Both Huawei and Honor gained a significant share in the foldable market last year with their products and may continue to achieve success.
The Chinese tech giant continues to fill its pocket with enormous achievements and the folding gadget race seems no exception to this theory. For the first time, Huawei is taking the lead over Samsung in the Q1 2024 foldable phone market.
Apart from Huawei and Samsung, the report mentions that OPPO and Vivo might lose their shares due to the unavailability of new products in China. Meanwhile, the Pocket 2 developer could bring at least two more folding devices in 2024. In total, there could be 27 new foldable phones from all brands this year.
