Huawei to narrow smartphone shipment gap with Samsung in 2019

Samsung has been maintaining its first place in the global smartphone market for a long time but Huawei’s growth in recent years is continuously narrowing the gap with the South Korean smartphone maker in terms of market share, says a report.

According to Strategy Analytics, Huawei is estimated to ship 251 million units to take up 17.7 percent of the market this year with double-digit growth of 14.4 percent a year ago, via Koreanherald.

On the other hand, Samsung to ship 323 million smartphones counting 21.3 percent share, estimating on year compared to 291 million units and 20.3 percent share recorded last year.

The researcher also said the market share between the two smartphone makers narrowed from 5.9 percent in 2018 to 3.6 percent this year.

Due to its strong performance in the home ground, Huawei continues to make sell more devices and maintain its market growth in the global market. This growth level also helping the company to fill the damage done by the US trade ban.

In the third quarter of 2019, Huawei bagged over 42% of the total Chinese smartphone share and recorded a blazing 66% on-year growth rate. In the global market, Huawei remains the only smartphone company to see a double-digit growth of 26% YoY, which was 13.4 during the same period last year.
