Huawei to launch 5G phone case that enables 5G in 4G devices
Huawei phones currently cannot use 4G due to chip restrictions. However, Huawei is currently working on a phone case that could enable 5G services on 4G phones by just installing this case over the smartphone.
According to the information coming from a well-known Weibo tipster, Huawei has a solution that could enable a 5G network band in its devices by installing a phone case. Still, the efficiency of this device has not been measured and remains unknown.
The tipster also suggests that this 5G solution will not be as powerful as the integrated 5G chipset but, it could be better than having no 5G at all. Currently, Huawei has not revealed any official details or confirmed such product for launch but we’ll wait for more information on this matter.
CASE:
The tipster has also shared a render for the case, which shows a large camera cutout similar to the Huawei P50 series, and it has a gradient base finishing on the rear side. It seemingly has network bands on all sides of the phone and could equip a better design than regular cases.
No 5G:
Last year, Huawei launched the P50 series without 5G access, it’s the first Huawei premium phone that doesn’t feature 5G access. The reason behind this lack of important capability lies in the 5G network band that cannot be enabled due to the RF component.
Why not? Because Huawei cannot purchase new RF chipset from the overseas market. So, it must have to remain on the 4G network bands. Therefore, Huawei P50 and P50 Pocket come only with 4G access, as well as new Nova 9 series devices.
The addition of this new Huawei 5G phone case will help consumers to use 5G access on the go but there’s more that we need to explore about the product once it goes on the market.
