Huawei ties up with Maxis to meet 5G-A and digital goals in Malaysia

On August 12th, Huawei and Maxis Communications tied hands to boost 5G-A and meet digital goals in Malaysia. Both parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement to develop a Joint Innovation Center to accelerate the 5G-A technology.

Maxis is one of the leading telecommunications in Malaysia which offers standard network services to customers. For instance, broadband plans, internet plans, phone plans, and more. Its headquarters is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

As of now, the telecom operator is joining forces with the Chinese OEM to bring advanced 5G-A network solutions to the region. Both firms sealed their partnership with an MoU at the Malaysia Commercialization Year Summit 2024 ceremony.

Looking into the agreement, both parties will indulge in the exploration of innovative network technologies that can be in gigabit capacity and help in mobile phone network expansion. For instance, mobile edge computing, network slicing, RedCap, Passive IoT, end-to-end network orchestration, and more.

Huawei and Maxis will further work on AI and machine learning usage to maintain network operating efficiencies and handle 5G-A technology far more effectively.

Apart from the tech sector, both companies will also provide better skills to university students. Doing so will lead to talented individuals for R&D projects, academic, as well as telecom industry sectors.

The CEO of Maxis Communications – Goh Seow Eng said that it’s the first to exhibit 5G-A solutions across the region. As the country’s leading telecoms, Maxis aims to bring better 5G-A facilities with Huawei that can result in economic evolution in Malaysia.

“The continued collaboration with Huawei is one of the many ways we are supporting Malaysia’s digital ambition. With this latest collaboration, we want to take full advantage of 5G-Advanced by building up human capital alongside commercialized innovation for enterprises and industries.”
