Huawei testing OmniVision OV50K camera sensor for Pura 80: Leak
News regarding Huawei Pura 80 series suggests that the flagship could use an OV50K camera sensor. The company is reportedly testing the new optical lens for its next lineup. Apart from photography, the device may deliver improved performance.
DirectorShiGuan notes that Huawei is testing the OmniVision OV50K camera sensor for a new smartphone product. This device will likely bring two display variants: flat and quad-curved panels with 6.6-inch and 6.8-inch screen sizes respectively.
Judging from the display specs, the device seemingly belongs to the Pura 80 series. Huawei may use an OmniVision OV50K camera sensor for the Pura 80 flagship.
OmniVision OV50K
OmniVision OV50K is a 50MP main camera sensor. It features a 1.2-micron pixel in a 1/1.3-inch optical format. It is the first sensor to adopt the TheiaCel technology.
TheiaCel enhances the LOFIC (lateral overflow integration capacitors) and delivers top-class single-exposure high dynamic range (HDR) irrespective of the lighting scenarios. Thus, you get detailed and brightest shots even in dim lighting.
Another benefit of this sensor is quad-phase detection (QPD) tech for faster autofocus performance. It easily balances the highlights and shadows of an image and increases the light intake. The sensor also optimizes the post-coloring stylization.
Earlier, a tipster stated that Huawei is testing new camera sensors for its future devices. One of these sensors was OV50K. We may see this camera with the upcoming Pura 80 smartphones. An official confirmation awaits on this leak.
The latest leak further says Pura 80 may use a 5600mAh battery. A previous input said that the lineup could pack a 6000mAh cell. It seems the company might adopt a higher-density cell for the top models and a mid-range cell for the standard variant.
Pura 80 series could score between 1.2 to 1.3 million on AnTuTu. Based on the scoring, the device may feature a Kirin 9020 chipset.
Note that these revelations could change in the time ahead. Hence, let’s take them with a grain of salt and wait for some official announcements on this matter.
