Huawei sued fake headphones seller and took 1 million yuan fine

Huawei has recently sued an unauthorized headphones seller for infringing Huawei’s trademark and unfair competition disputes. Huawei has sued the unauthorized headphones seller in Yuhang District People’s Court of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China.

Following a complaint of a Huawei consumer, Huawei found that the defendant, Shenzhen Jinyun Video Equipment Co., Ltd., sold a variety of unauthorized Huawei headphones in its online store, targeting the country for a long-term and large-scale implementation of “Huawei” that infringed the plaintiff’s registration including the trademark of “FREEBUDS”.

These words are exclusive to Huawei but the infringing firm has used words such as official genius Huawei only product and official original device. This caused a big confusion among consumers and they started purchasing such products while believing them to be coming from Huawei.

This also caught the attention of Huawei which caused falsified promotion of its product. Therefore, Huawei filed a lawsuit against the unauthorized device maker and demanded to stop trademark infringement with immediate effect.

That’s not it, the unauthorized seller was ordered to compensate for economic losses and reasonable rights protection costs of 3 million yuan and bear the relevant litigation costs.

The corresponding court has found that the Huawei trademark was found to be falsified and the result of the judgment includes 1 million yuan of compensation that is given to the end party – Huawei.
