Huawei silently announces Kirin 9006C 5nm chip amid U.S. sanctions
Huawei has quietly listed a brand-new 5nm chip named Kirin 9006C on its official website, defying the U.S. sanctions. The company was already in the headlines for developing a processor with SMIC cooperation, meanwhile, a new invention appeared in the limelight.
Accordingly, the Chinese tech maker has listed its newly launched Qingyun L540 laptop on the official website. While looking into the specifications, the processor section grabbed our attention with a new name – Kirin 9006C.
The information further reveals that this chipset uproots over a 5nm process technology and has an octa-core ARM CPU (four A77 and four A55) with a maximum clock speed of 3.13GHz. The processor offers higher performance, enhanced power efficiency, and a faster processing rate.
Notably, the Kirin 9006C 5nm chip is only available in one laptop at the moment yet, we count it as a new milestone Huawei made despite the U.S. sanctions. Moreover, the company could bring the chipset to more devices in the time ahead.
It is worth mentioning that the new processor does not differ much from the Kirin 9000. One may also point out that the company has simply utilized its elements stocked from the past three years. Still, it is a good initiative from both Huawei and SMIC.
Talking about the chip developer – SMIC is now pursuing a new 5nm chip technology via DUV (Deep Ultraviolet) and photomask usage. This development is at the initial stage and will extend further. Read More
