Huawei shipped 118 million smartphone units in the first half of 2019

On July 30, Huawei officially announced its business results for the first half of 2019 and in the report, the tech giant revealed that its smartphone business is delivering on track records.

According to Huawei, the consumer business division generated 220.8 billion yuan ($32.75 Billion) in revenue.

Huawei said it shipped 118 million units of smartphone including Honor (its sub-brand) for the first half of 2019, resulting in a 24% on-year jump.

Earlier today data published by Canalys shows that Huawei is the only smartphone maker that seen growth and leads the Chinese smartphone market with 38.2% shares in the second quarter leaving its rivals companies behind.

“Huawei’s addition to the United States Entity List caused uncertainty overseas, but in China, it has kept its foot on the accelerator,” Mo Jia, an analyst at the research firm, said in the report. “Its core strategy remains to invest in aggressive offline expansion, and luring consumers from rival brands.”

“The US-China trade war is also creating new opportunities,” Mo Jia added.

In an interview with Huawei Finance, Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei told the company plans to ship 270 million smartphones this year to grow 30% sales and higher than any of its previous sales goal.

According to the recent data shown by IDC, Huawei records the fastest smartphone sales growth this year. It sold 200 million smartphones in 2018 and shipped 100 million devices by the end of May, which faster compared to the same mark achieved last year.

By looking at these figures, we can say that Huawei is on its track to deliver good smartphone sales in the upcoming quarter and expected to ship more in the near future.
