Huawei has introduced HarmonyOS NEXT 5, the latest HarmonyOS version with a new user interface (UI) and performance upgrades for a better user experience.

Yang Zhiyan, Chief UX Designer at Huawei Consumer BG has brought this new design for smartphones, tablets, and smart wearables labeled as “native and exquisite”.

HarmonyOS NEXT 5 has a “harmonious aesthetics” philosophy starting with the HarmonyOS ring and conceptualized with the theme “light constructs everything in the world”.

These changes can be seen throughout the UI including the control center. The controls are rounder and bigger compared to HarmonyOS making them more touch-friendly.

The company has introduced refreshed sliders for volume and brightness, which change dynamically as you change their values.

The lock screen and personalization options have been improved in HarmonyOS NEXT 5. That includes on-screen widgets and dynamic wallpapers. These widgets can adopt a lock screen and adapt better on-screen appearance.

Furthermore, the lock screen’s dynamic wallpaper and themes now support the gravity sensor to show the graphical movement in real-time.

The live view feature received major upgrades with deeper integration with the system and third-party native apps to show their real-time progress.

Huawei has rebranded the intelligent AI solution with a new Celia voice assistant with in-device large language models for natural language processing.

The whole system performance has improved software and hardware compatibility including a 30 percent increase in fluency and up to an hour of boost in battery life.

These new changes in UI and features will be available for previous and new devices.
