Huawei requests US court to remove ‘theft and fraud’ allegations: Report
Huawei has reportedly requested the US court to dismiss the unnecessary ‘theft and fraud’ allegations. The tech giant says that these charges are nothing but a part of a “baseless initiative” to target Chinese companies and prevent them from progressing.
The story began a few years back when the U.S. accused Huawei of stealing tech secrets and confidential data from its foreign rivals. It even blamed the company for misleading several financial banks about its business in countries like Iran.
Although Huawei claimed that there isn’t any proof or evidence that can justify the company’s involvement in such activities. The tech maker said that the U.S. is only trying ways to suppress the Chinese firms or people tied to China.
Reuters noted that Huawei fought for justice and said ‘there was no proof of a conspiracy’. The statement came in a Friday night filing at the federal court in Brooklyn.
“The government has approached Huawei as a prosecutorial target in search of a crime.” – said Huawei.
Huawei further added that most of the theft allegations relate to “outside the US” activities. But the case is entirely different with the bank section as it comes under the “right to control” theory which the US Supreme Court rejected last year.
U.S. vs Huawei Technologies Co et al case has now received a trial date of January 05, 2026. The case reportedly began in 2018 and took the CFO of Huawei – Meng Wanzhou into custody in Canada. Although charges against her were removed in 2022.
The US and Huawei war has been in the wild since 2019. Meanwhile, some activities and cases continue to fuel this battle, making the relations between the foreign authorities and China even worse. Though Huawei denied many times being a threat to U.S. security. Yet, it still struggles with foreign challenges.
