Huawei reportedly sued Romania over its 5G network equipment rejection
Huawei has recently charged Romania after the country rejected the use of the firm’s 5G network equipment. The Romanian authorities took this step earlier this year (around February) while the Chinese OEM filed a case on this matter for a fair decision.
Several European countries and firms are busy removing the Huawei 5G equipment from their core network, followed by the U.S. guidelines. But this time, the tech maker appealed a lawsuit against the country for treating it unfairly in the 5G market.
The President of Romania – Klaus Lohannis signed the U.S.-favored bill three years back, to completely ban Huawei and other Chinese companies equipment.
But in February 2024, Romania doubled these sanctions when the Supreme Council of National Defence (CSAT) disproved Huawei from participating in the country’s 5G network market and in response, the firm has now filed a case against CSAT.
Huawei’s Take
Huawei states that Romania’s decision over groundless reasons will affect its business in the country. Over 1300 local employees are working in the company which will contribute to the security, reliability, and employment support in the nation.
The firm further says that Huawei 5G network equipment and tools fully adhere to the country’s regulations and Romania should think about its decision.
“We’re dissatisfied with the federal government alternative, which isn’t rooted in any goal evaluation or true findings. Huawei has operated in Romania for more than 20 years without having any stability issues and complied with all countrywide insurance policies and police.”
Other telecom operators like Vodafone and Orange who have relied upon Huawei for years, especially in the 4G era, will now have to completely ‘rip and replace’ Huawei from their core network, and opt for some other effective solutions.
