Huawei has allegedly created a union of some automobile companies to promote the superfast EV charging technology. It’s not the first time that the tech giant has aimed to uplift the smart car charging facility to the next level with better actions.

The report says that Huawei announced this automakers union during the Beijing Auto Show 2024 event, shedding light on the superfast EV charging matter.

Around 10 Chinese automobile industries including BYD are a part of this alliance. Huawei has formed this association not only to encourage the development of EV chargers in China but also to make them more innovative and user-friendly.

It seems Huawei will primarily make efforts in the superfast EV charging subject while others will continue to build electric vehicles. The tech giant’s Digital Power unit already has chargers worth 360kW, 480kW, and 600kW output power capacity.

Compared to the ordinary chargers that range from 60 to 200kW, Huawei has better EV charging technology. Related to this, an EV station sign in China reads:

“Your car will be ready to go by the time you finish a coffee.”

An early report suggested that Huawei aims to deploy around 100000 EV chargers in China by the end of this year. These charging stations are likely to pace ahead of the usual gas stations and will be compatible with all kinds of car brands.

The development of superfast charging stations demands both time and money. To help out, the Shenzhen government is now offering subsidies to developers along with more space.

Huawei also plans to overcome the supply chain issues for the Silicon-carbide SiC chips that effectively reduce power consumption over other chips in EV chargers.
