In the August 2024 EMUI and HarmonyOS security bulletin, Huawei has mended 10 vulnerability exposures. There are 1 critical, 2 high, and 7 medium-level of CVEs. These exploits are affecting devices on EMUI 12/HarmonyOS 2 and above versions.
These issues are related to the permission verification, Contacts module, lock screen module, App Cloner, NotePad module, and graphics module. The company has further fixed certain third-party library defects in the new software versions.
Huawei has detailed the August 2024 security patch in advance. Although it may take some time to initiate the new update rollout, following the EMUI 14.2 distribution.
EMUI
Up to this point, Huawei offered EMUI 14.2 to various top-end models. Most of these are Pro variants of the flagship series. For instance, P60 Pro, Mate 50 Pro, Nova 11 Pro, and so on. The firmware also reached Nova Y91, Nova 11i, and Mate Xs 2.
But a few standard models like Mate 50, and Nova 11, are still waiting to grab the upgrade in some regions. And our hope to see EMUI 14.2 for some excellent old flagship is still alive. But the OEM hasn’t made any official announcement on this matter yet.
HarmonyOS
On the other hand, HarmonyOS NEXT developer beta has stepped into the third phase. The tech giant has pushed off the developer beta 3 with new features for the Celia Keyboard, camera segment, and network system of the devices. Know More.
What’s next the company is cooking for its software section is a mystery. Till then, you can have a look at the August 2024 EMUI and HarmonyOS security details.
