Keep on innovating, Huawei ranks first in tech patents for 2022 in China

Huawei is continuously inventing and searching for new technologies while saving their rights as patents. Recently, Huawei achieved the first rank in China with the most patents in 2022.

According to China’s State Intellectual Property Office, Huawei gets the top spot with 5805 patents. Among the top 10 Chinese invention patent authorizations in 2022, Tencent Tech comes second with 4076 patents.

Samsung is the first overseas company with 1785 patents. Meanwhile, Toyota and Qualcomm join second and third places.

Applications:

It is revealed that a total of 1.619 million invention patent applications were filed in 2022. This is a YoY increase of 2.1% and over 90% of the patent filed by domestic companies. Leading with 1.465 million patents and a 2.6% year-on increase.

The overseas companies had 155000 patent applications. This is over a 9% share and a 2% year-on-year decline.

Authorized patent:

From 1.619 million, the authorities approved 798000 patents with a year-over-year increase of 14.7%. This number includes 696000 domestic patents, accounting for 87.1%. Foreign patents were 861000, accounting for 20.4% of the share in approved patents with a 4.5% year-on-year increment.

PCT:

74,000 PCT international patent applications were approved in 2022 with a year-on-year increase of 1.4%. Among them, 69000 were from domestic companies, a year-on-year increase of 1.1%. A total of 78,000 international PCT applications were accepted with a year-on-year decrease of 0.7%.

Trademarks:

Trademark registration applications were 7.516 million, a year-on-year decrease of 20.5%. These include domestic trademark applications at 7.304 million, accounting for a 97.2% + 20.5% increase.

Overseas companies with trademark applications had 212000 trademarks. This accounts for 2.8% of the total, a year-on-year decrease of 17.8%.

Huawei:

In the face of challenges, Huawei keeps on researching new technologies that help the tech maker to find new pathways. These patents are the first rank in the Chinese patent race is proof that Huawei has not slowed down in 2022.
