Huawei is producing smartphones without US technologies, alternative suppliers came into play

In the midst of failed attempts, the US is planning to add more restriction on Huawei, on the other hand, Huawei is driving forward by producing its smartphones without US technologies, reveals a report.

According to an analysis by a Japanese technology lab – USB and Fomalhaut Techno Solution, found that the part of Huawei Mate 30 unveiled in September, contains no U.S. made components, reported WSJ.

Back in May, the US commerce department barred Huawei from buying components and software services from American firms including Google, Intel, Qualcomm, Microsoft, Xilinx, Qurvo, Skyworks Solutions, Broadcom and more from continuing business ties with the Chinese telecom giant.

In 2018, Huawei spent around $70 billion on buying components from that $11 billion accounted to U.S. firms including Qualcomm, Intel, and Micron Technology Inc.

But after the trade restrictions, these earning of the US companies went down and with efforts, Huawei has established new supply chains to alternate its requirements of the US parts.

For example, after the release of Honor 20 Pro, a component supplier from the US suddenly stopped the shipping component for this phone and in this condition Honor immediately activated its backup supplier.

Majorly, its semiconductor making subsidiary – HiSilicon is now producing even more mobile chips for smartphones and over 70% of this year’s smartphones are powered by the home-produced processors.

However, Huawei has not completely stopped purchasing new chips from US companies and still interested in doing business with its US partners.

Not only smartphones but Huawei is also mass-producing its 5G base stations, without using US components.
