Huawei patents smart eye mask that could monitor Epilepsy
On May 10, Huawei published a new patent in the field of health management entitled “Smart eye mask, device, health management method, and system”. Huawei’s aim behind this patent is to detect and monitor epilepsy disease and deliver accurate results.
According to the patent, when the epilepsy seizure is detected then the data can be sent to a smart device connected to Huawei smart eye mask to display the generated record. To be mentioned, the smart eye mask is equipped with a signal acquisition unit, a processing unit, and an EEG electrode.
What is Epilepsy?
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder (central nervous system) in which the human brain activity becomes abnormal and causes seizures or periods of unusual behavior, sensations, and sometimes loss of awareness. For your information, Epilepsy can affect both males and females of any age.
Patent Description:
The smart eye mask comes with a signal acquisition unit, a processing unit, and an EEG electrode, wherein the signal acquisition unit. It can detect the corresponding EEG signal of the wearer’s heart rate signal and the head movement signal.
The processing unit can perform epilepsy detection based on the EEG signal, heart rate signal, and head movement signal and can connect to the Huawei smart eye mask when an epileptic seizure is detected.
The smart device sends the epileptic seizure data to the smart eye wear to display the epileptic seizure record generated based on the acquired epileptic seizure data in response to the user’s operation. This technical solution provided by Huawei can realize the monitoring and management of epilepsy diseases and can improve the accuracy of epilepsy detection results.
