Huawei patents new lighting technology for foldable phones

On January 19, Huawei patent for a method and device folding screen lighting in China with publication number CN112241194A, which adjust the brightness and colors of the folding screen and helps to improve the eyesight as well as user experience.

The patent describes the method of folding screen lighting to reduce the screen brightness problems when the screen turned on in a dark or dim light environment. According to this method, the screen brightness gradually enhances as the angle becomes larger, which protects eyesight and improves user experience.

Following this method, not only the brightness managed but the color gradation can be achieved. It means that when the user opens the screen at 10-degree the screen display color is red and with increasing angle size screen color gradually changes to orange and yellow.

This patent method is compatible with both inward and outward folding smartphone screens. It requires a magnetic sensor, acceleration sensor, distance sensor, and infrared diode proximity sensor to apply this patent method on smartphones.

On the other hand, Huawei has two folding smartphones, Huawei Mate X and Mate Xs. In the future, the company will definitely add more smartphones to this list. However, we can only expect Huawei to put this design in production but nothing is certain at the moment..
