Huawei patent shows rotating foldable design with in-built case

A new Huawei patent has surfaced online and revealed a rotating foldable mechanism. The overall structure hints at a tri-fold handset but this time, with a new form factor. It shows an in-built protective case in the folding phone framework.

91Mobiles reported that a new Huawei patent has been published on the CNIPA database. The prints highlight a new design for a triple foldable smartphone.

However, the design and mechanism is quite different from the champion Mate XT. The patent implies that Huawei plans to make a new foldable with a rotating mechanism. It shows a rotating panel on both ends for unfolding the device.

The interesting part of this patent is that it (say the third panel) seemingly has a protective case. When folded completely, the device seems like a tri-fold handset.

Although the third side looks like a protective case for one of the screens. In terms of form factor, the device seems to bear a rectangular shape in an unfolded state.

Meanwhile, some other pictures show it in a classic book-type foldable design. It is unclear if Huawei will bring such a folding format into the real world. However, the overall twists and turns of this distinct “rotating foldable” look quite amazing.

Note that patent refers to what inventions a company is planning for its consumers. Although it doesn’t confirm the existence of such products officially.

Huawei launched the world’s first triple-foldable Mate XT last month. The company has initiated a new folding phone line and could add more models to it in the future. Perhaps, we may find this new rotating-style device in the time ahead.
