Huawei P70 series to use OmniVision camera sensor
OmniVision is slowly gripping the Chinese smartphone industry and soon its camera image sensor will pick up a new pace with the adaption in flagship devices including the upcoming Huawei P70 series.
Tipster DCS shared information that the Huawei P70 series is also using OmniVision’s new camera system under the high-end flagship product segment.
For now, the tipster remained mum on the sensor model but it could be between OB50H and OB50K, both of these are being considered as the top choice for upcoming phones by different companies.
It was previously revealed that Huawei is testing an OV50H high-resolution 50MP camera sensor. This is a 50MP image sensor for high-end rear-facing photographs and videography. The sensor could output 12.5 megapixels of 120 fps video and HDR at 60fps.
Huawei P Series:
Huawei P series flagship devices have always been Huawei’s top performer in mobile photography and the company wants to continue this trend with the launch of the new Huawei P70 series. Although, the past three years have been tough on the P series featuring less competitive camera technologies but the next model in this phone family might bring major improvements.
There are also reports that Huawei is working on its own image sensor for a new smartphone and ended its contract with Sony, its long-term camera sensor partner. However, Huawei has not confirmed any of this information for the time being.
As for the launch date, the new P series smartphone launches in the first half of a year, therefore, we could expect the Huawei P70 series to be unveiled around March or April next year.
