Huawei P60 Pro and Mate 50 Pro gets August 2024 EMUI security patch
Huawei started rolling out the August 2024 security patch for the P60 Pro and Mate 50 Pro flagship devices. After an optimization update, the OEM is now bringing the latest month’s security improvements to refine the top-end phones’ current health.
EMUI August 2024 security patch contains 10 major fixes for the device’s system. These issues are related to the lock screen, contacts, App Cloner, NotePad, and more.
The patch also eliminates various third-party defects from the device that could act as a gateway for malware. Installing this build will add an extra layer of security to your data. Hence, you should prioritize this firmware and download it at the earliest.
Huawei P60 Pro and Mate 50 Pro users can identify the latest August 2024 security patch with the EMUI 14.2.0.149 version. It also has a package of 353 Megabytes. We recommend using a stable internet medium to install the new firmware.
Users can further check for the newest software update by visiting the system settings and following these instructions:
- Open the System & Updates section
- Tap on Software Updates
- Click on CHECK FOR UPDATE
Your phone will automatically start downloading a new package if available on the server. Though it may take time depending on the Wi-Fi connection. The device will restart once the package gets downloaded. Don’t worry as this won’t harm your data. But it’s better to take a backup of your data and other essentials beforehand.
EMUI 14.2 wait extends for other models
Huawei has not confirmed whether it will expand the EMUI 14.2 rollout to the old flagship models or keep it confined to the new top-end handsets. Meanwhile, several device owners like Mate 40 Pro and P40 Pro still await a major software upgrade.
Since most of the old phones have received HarmonyOS 4.2 in China, there is a chance that the company soon introduce a useful upgrade for other devices. But things will only get confirmed after an official statement.
