Huawei P40 smartphones began receiving May 2021 security improvement [Europe]
Recently, Huawei is sending a new software update for a flagship device from P-series, Huawei P40 Pro global variant that installs the May 2021 security patch. However, this security improvement is not yet rolled out for the P40 Pro in the Chinese market.
According to the latest information, Huawei P40 Pro device owners can upgrade their respective smartphones to EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.193 (C432E3R6P4). For your information, it comes with an updated size of 294MB. However, the size may still vary depending on the country.
Huawei P40 Series HarmonyOS 2:
Huawei P40 Series got a chance to participate in the first phase of the HarmonyOS 2.0 public beta program. Following the beta testing, the company has released the HarmonyOS stable update for 18 including all of the models from the lineup.
At the moment, HarmonyOS 2 beta activity is limited to the Chinese models of Huawei smartphones. Yet, the company may soon share HM OS beta program roadmap for global users. Moreover, it is expected to start in the last quarter of 2022 for top models but we’ll have to get to more insights on this matter.

May 2021 security update details:
May 2021 security patch fixes different levels of exploits and issues including 3 critical, 10 high, and 4 medium levels of CVE for improved system security. Additionally, it resolves 13 hidden privacy issues found in the previous updates.
Key points for users before Update:
- The device must have a better battery backup to install this update that is a minimum of 50%.
- It’s compulsory to check your storage availability(Internal/External SDcard) to download the latest update as per the size required
- A strong WiFi/mobile data connection is required for a buffer-free download of the package.
HOW TO INSTALL:
To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.
Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.
