Huawei P30 Lite receiving VoWiFi calling, Huawei Assistant and Smart Charging in a new update

A few days ago, Huawei started to rollout April security improvements for the Huawei P30 Lite global variants. Additionally for the Huawei P30 Lite users in India, the company now rolling out a new update with a number of new features along with VoWiFi feature.

Huawei has pushed a new update for the Huawei P30 Lite. The update enables VoWiFi calling, Huawei Assistant, Smart Charging as well as April 2020 security patch.

Currently, Huawei has completed VoWiFi installation on Huawei P30 Pro, Huawei P20 Pro, and Huawei Mate 20 Pro in India. More devices to be added later on.

Huawei P30 Lite VoWiFi Update Changelog:

Calls: Enables the VoWiFi features for certain carriers.

Security: Integrates Android security patches released in April 2020 for improved system security.

Huawei Assistant: Not mentioned in the changelog, but it’s part of the update.

Smart Charge: Also, not mentioned in changelog but it’s part of the update.

DETAILS:

VoWiFi: Or Wi-Fi Calling feature enables users to use smartphones that support VoWiFi to dial numbers to use voice or video calls over Wi-Fi connection. Currently in India, only Jio and Airtel networks are offering VoWiFi services.

How to activate the Wi-Fi Calling feature:

You can activate the VoWiFi calling by going to Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data > Wi-Fi Calling > tap on Wi-Fi Calling slider to enable this feature.

Or via simply to Phone dialer > Settings > Wi-Fi Calling, tap the Wi-Fi Calling slider to enable this feature.

April 2020 Security: April 2020 security update includes patches from Google and brings fixes to 5 critical, 12 high, and 1 medium level of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE).

Huawei Assistant: Huawei Assistant provides smart reminders, personalized news, and other content relevant to you. The assistant is accessible via the home screen.

Just swipe right on the home screen to access Huawei Assistant (or left if you are using a bi-directional language). Huawei Assistant can’t be accessed directly from AppGallery.

Smart Charge: Preserve battery health by adapting to your charging routine. Charging may be paused to delay charging your device to 100% until needed.

Activate (default): Settings > Battery > More battery settings > Smart Charge.

EMUI VERSION:

Huawei P30 Lite receiving the latest update with EMUI 10.0.0.195 upgrading from 10.0.0.170 and 593MB software package size.

Note: The update is rolling out in batches for the Indian variant, so it may take some time to reach your devices.

Global:

It’s possible that the same improvements may have been made for the global units except for the VoWiFi feature but we’ve not confirmed it yet.
