Huawei P20 Lite gets a new software update with security improvements
Huawei P20 Lite smartphone was initially launched with EMUI 8.0 and then Huawei delivered EMUI 9.0 and EMUI 9.1 major software updates to this device to provide a new user experience.
At present, the P20 Lite device is running on EMUI 9.1 and not eligible to get further major updates. But, the company is still sending regular security update that helps your smartphone to fight against threats.
Now, Huawei has started pushing a new software update for P20 Lite users. This update installs the security patch released in December 2020 that fixes different levels of exploits and issues to improve the system security.

Software update details:
Version: Huawei P20 Lite smartphone users getting EMUI 9.1 version 9.1.0.374 upgrading from 9.1.0.372 with an update size of 216MB.
Security: Integrates Android security patches released in December 2020 for improved system security.
December 2020 Security Patch Details: December 2020 security update fixes for different levels of exploits and issues within Huawei phones including 1 critical and 11 high levels of CVEs.
Note:
- Currently, this update is rolling out in Europe.
- The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
- The update will not erase any data.
HOW TO UPDATE:
To download this update manually, go to Settings then System, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop-up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.
Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.
