Huawei outperforms HP in the Q2 2024 Chinese PC market: Canalys
Canalys has published its latest analysis on the Chinese PC market for Q2 2024 and Huawei captured the second spot in this listing. The company has edged out some foreign tech vendors like HP in the notebook race with good annual progress.
Inputs reveal that Huawei has shipped around 11.58 million notebooks in the Q2 2024 Chinese PC market. The company’s overall laptop shipment has grown by 2.70 million units in the second quarter of this year, compared to Q2 2023.
Huawei has ultimately edged out HP and grabbed the second position. Its annual growth sees a progress of 33%. Speaking of the market share, the tech giant holds a 13% share in Q2 2024. This share may rise in the upcoming quarters.
Thanks to MateBook X Pro 2024 – the Intel-powered notebook became an ‘in-demand’ laptop right after its launch. The company has also seeded the device with Pangu Large Model 5.0 and various AI capabilities for a smarter user experience.
Other than Huawei, Lenovo ranked first in this listing with 30.71 million unit shipments. It owns a 34% share of the Chinese PC market. Although the company has dropped down by 12% in the annual progress and 2%YoY in the market share.
HP is in third place. It sold 8.17 million units and has 9% of the market share. Just like Lenovo, HP is also seeing a decline of 16% in the yearly growth rate.
Brands like Tongfang and Asus secured fourth and fifth positions respectively. The former has progressed 86% annually with 7.42 million unit shipments. Whereas, the latter shipped around 6.60 million units in the Chinese PC market.
Canalys reveals that the Chinese PC market has declined by 6% in Q2 2024. The total laptop shipment for the second quarter is 9.1 million following the weak demand. The analysts further predict that the PC market may drop by 4% more this year. Although it may leap back in 2025 with 12% of shipment growth.
