Huawei Nova 7 and 7 Pro users receiving January 2021 security update
In April 2020, Huawei revealed new smartphones in the Nova family, Nova 7, 7 Pro, and 7 SE with EMUI 10.1. These models are eligible to install the EMUI 11, which allows the users to experience a new user interface and the latest features.
As of now, the EMUI 11 beta testing is completed for Nova 7 and 7 Pro. Also, Huawei released a stable EMUI 11 version via OTA update for beta testers as well as for users on EMUI 10.1.
The EMUI 11 brings a bunch of new features including artistic always-on-display, smoother animations, super notepad, multiwindow-multitasking, AI subtle, privacy features, and much more.
Now, Huawei is pushing a new software update for Huawei Nova 7 and 7 Pro smartphones. This update mainly brings the security patch released in January 2021, which fixes 4 critical, 1 medium, and 25 high levels of CVEs for improved system security.
In the past updates, Huawei delivered a new flash file transfer feature, improves dynamic screen effect, added the latest artistic themes, fixes known bugs, and install December 2020 security update.

Points to know before updating:
- The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
- EMUI version and size may vary depending on the country/region/models.
- We recommend you back up any important data before updating, safety measures.

January 2021 Security Patch Details: Installs security fixes for different levels of exploits and issues within Huawei phones including 4 critical, 1 medium, and 25 high levels of CVEs.
HOW TO CHECK FOR NEW UPDATE:
To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop-up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.
You can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.
