Huawei Nova 20 Pro, Mate X3 and P60 to run Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+
Despite recent changes, Huawei is likely to use sufficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset for upcoming smartphones including Nova 20 Pro, Mate X3, and P60.
According to the inputs coming from Weibo tipster, Wangzai, Huawei Nova 20 Pro, Mate X3, and Huawei P60 will use Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. That suggests the 8+ Gen 1 will be popular this year.
Snapdragon 8+ is produced with TSMC’s 4nm process. The frequency of the CPU and GPU is 10% higher than that of the previous generation’s flagship Snapdragon platform, and the power consumption is reduced by 30%.
So, we come down to the conclusion that this processor will use frequency change in all of these three devices. Input suggests that Huawei Nova 20 Pro uses a low-frequency version of Snapdragon 8+, while the main core is set for 3.0 GHz and the standard frequency is 3.2GHz.
Compared to the flagship version, the mid-range or low-to-high-end version of Snapdragon 8+ brings advantages such as better battery life. For example, the Honor 80 series has controlled frequency and provide good performance.
No Gen 2 in the P60 series?
So, Huawei is not using Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 in the P60 series? The answer to this question is currently unconfirmed. As tipsters have confirmed that the is only P60, which may raise hope for a high-end Snapdragon chip.
Past information reveals that Huawei Nova 20 series will launch around May of this year and will have two models – Nova 20 and Nova 20 Pro. Looking past the generations, Huawei Nova 10 lineup featured Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G octa-core chip. It uses 4 × Cortex-A78 at 2.4 GHz + 4 × Cortex-A55 at 1.8 GHz architecture.
It’s possible that the Nova 20 Pro version is chosen for Snapdragon 8+ and the standard Nova 20 chose to remain on Snapdragon mid-range chipset. As for now, there are no additional details available about the Nova 20 series parameters. But there’s a lot to know and we’ll keep you posted.
