Huawei Nova 12 series launched with Kirin 5G chipset, 50MP camera, HarmonyOS 4 and more
On December 26, Huawei launched the most-anticipated smartphone lineup – Nova 12 series for consumers. The launch marks an end to the long-standing speculations as this dynamic phone series comes with a bunch of new features and tech-pack functionalities.

Huawei Nova 12
Huawei Nova 12 series – standard version launched with a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2412 x 1084 pixels. It also supports 1440Hz PWM high-frequency dimming along with a 120Hz refresh rate. The front face shows a single punch-hole design placed at the center of the flat screen.
Huawei Nova 12 Pro and Ultra
The Ultra version features a 6.76-inch OLED panel with a 2776 x 1224 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It bears a dual punch-hole design on the front face with quad-curved screen. The display panel further supports 300Hz touch sampling rate, 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and second-gen Kunlun Glass sheet.

The Chinese tech giant has immensely focused on the optical framework of the devices. Starting with the standard model, the rear camera setup packs a dual-lens arrangement of a 50MP (f/1.9) primary shooter with an RYYB super-sensitive color filter sensor and an 8MP (f/2.4) ultrawide angle macro sensor with 10X zoom capabilities.
On the front side, the standard Nova 12 has a 60MP ultrawide angle lens with f/2.4 aperture for amazing selfie portraits. It also bears an LED flash at the rear side and supports several camera modes such as professional mode, voice-activated photography, AI beauty shot, portrait focus tracking, and more.
Huawei Nova 12 Pro and Ultra
Both Nova 12 Pro and Ultra variants adopt a dual camera setup. This includes a 50MP second-gen variable aperture shooter (f 1.4-f 4.0) with an RYYB sensor and an 8MP ultrawide angle macro sensor (F 2.2 aperture). The blades of this aperture are adjusted and suitable for portrait shooting.
Unlike the standard version, both high-end models bring dual front-facing cameras. Eventually, both models carry a 60MP ultrawide angle focus camera (f 2.4 aperture) with autofocus capabilities and an 8MP portrait close-up lens (F 2.2 aperture) which supports 2x and 5x optical zoom, giving amazing shots under low light conditions.
Huawei Nova 12 Pro and Ultra install a new binocular stereo vision imaging system for the front-facing camera system. Besides, they are the first to bear three portrait beauty themes – Original, Texture, and Makeup. You can pick any of these options and make adjustments accordingly.

On the flip side, it packs the DaVinci Portrait Engine which is a customized portrait system. The visual imaging system holds QPD full-pixel precise focusing qualities.
Also, the new portrait lens addition compares images from four aspects – shape, quality, light, and color. It also has features like smart recognition of facial skin, bones, light, and shadow to offer accurate beautification with a realistic view.
Rear Design
The Nova 12 series comes with the first integrated plain leather embossing process where the star color is Blue while other shades are Blue and White. Furthermore, these colorways are inspired by Mother Earth and reflect a free experience for users.
Speaking of the design, the back panel and the camera module are entirely packed with plain leather for Huawei Nova 12 Ultra. Meanwhile, the Pro and Standard versions exhibit a simple plain appearance. Together, they give a soft yet classy outlook.
Colors
Huawei Nova 12 Series is available in three main color schemes – Blue, White, and Black. Meanwhile, the Pro variant also emerges in a soft Sakura Pink color, specifically for female customers. This back texture of the Nova 12 Pro Pink version resembles the Huawei P60 rococo white model.
Battery and Other Features
All three models pack a 4600mAh battery with a 20V/5A adapter. These devices further support 100W fast charging. Also, the top-end models Pro and Ultra equips the Kirin 8000 5G and Kirin 9000SL processors.
Other features include a two-way satellite SMS feature for the Ultra model which enables you to communicate even without no network coverage. In addition, the three models pre-install the HarmonyOS 4.0 operating system with the latest features and functionalities.
