What is Huawei MetaERP and why it’s important?
On April 20, Huawei announced the launch of MetaERP. It is a major breakthrough and replaces legacy ERP systems purchased from the US and other countries. Therefore, it’s time to know what is MetaERP and why it’s important for Huawei.
ERP or Enterprise resource planning is a type of software for organizations to manage day-to-day business activities including accounting, procurement, project management, risk management, compliance, and supply chain operators.
An ERP system allows you to manage all of these tasks from a single workspace and it is accessible to different business divisions.
Huawei MetaERP:
Since it’s critical to the business model, Huawei began its journey with MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning) system in 1996. The company then upgrades to an ERP system, followed by further improvements. Huawei said the previous ERP system has been a very critical part of the management for the last 20 years.
In 2019, the US placed Huawei on a supply chain restriction list, which increased business challenges. Thereafter, its software access is severely hit by difficulties for the ERP system.
The global ERP software market is dominated by IBM Corporation, Infor, Microsoft Corporation, NetSuite, Oracle Corporation, SAP, and more. Most of these reside in the US and can’t deliver support to Huawei.
Then the company decided to build a fully controllable MetaERP system to replace its existing and old ERP system. It’s revealed that the entire project has been the most complex development for Huawei.
It took three years time with significant resources, investment, and immense manpower to complete the project. That’s not it, the tech maker also collaborated with industry partners to overcome challenges.
Complete Control:
Huawei says it is built with full-stack Huawei technologies, which include EulerOS and GaussDB. This puts Huawei in the driver’s seat to turn the wheel based on its preference.
According to the information, MetaERP currently handles 100% of Huawei’s business scenarios and 80% of its business volume. It has passed several tests for monthly, quarterly, and yearly settlements. Also, Huawei announced that has no faults, zero delays, and zero accounting adjustments.
This innovation is impressive and now you may have an idea of why MetaERP is important for Huawei.
