Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite on EMUI 8.0 getting January 2021 security update
In 2018, Huawei revealed the MediaPad M5 Lite with EMUI 8.0. To date, this device is still working on the same build version. Still, the company has not released any major software update yet.
In the meantime, Huawei is sending a new software update for MediaPad M5 Lite that brings the January 2021 security patch. This update fixes different levels of exploits and issue that protects your device against threats.
Meanwhile, MediaPad M5 Lite users are still waiting to get EMUI 9.0 or above upgrade. But, the good thing is that after 2.5 years of launch the company is delivering regular monthly security improvements.

What’s new in this update:
New Version: Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite users getting EMUI 8 version 8.0.0.340 upgraded from 8.0.0.339 with an update size of 131MB.
Security: Integrates Android security patches released in January 2021 for improved system security.
January 2021 Security Patch Details: Installs security fixes for different levels of exploits and issues within Huawei phones including 4 critical, 1 medium, and 25 high levels of CVEs.
HOW TO INSTALL UPDATE:
Download via Settings:
- Open Settings
- Click on the System
- Open Software update
- Tap on Check for updates option
- If an update is available, click on Download and install
- After installation Reboot the device
Download via Support app:
- Open the Support app on your device
- Go to the Service tab
- Click on the update button
- Tap on Check for update option
- If an update is available, click on Download and install
- After installation Reboot the device
NOTE:
- The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
- EMUI version and size may vary.
- Maintain enough battery and storage on your device.
