Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 tablets grab new GoPaint app with HarmonyOS 4.2 update

HarmonyOS 4.2 stable update now reaches the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 2021 and 2022 tablets with new features, improvements, and the GoPaint app. Installing the latest firmware ensures smoother operations and keeps the security at its peak.

Apart from software, the Chinese tech maker is also running the GoPaint public testing activity. The beta program is open for new tablets and has now reached the MatePad Pro 12.6 2021 and 2022 devices. The stable version will release in July.

GoPaint app is Huawei’s first self-developed painting application which enables users to unleash their hidden painter and dive into the creative world.

It comes with several painting tools, 100+ brushes, and beautiful canvas. The application also contains tutorial videos that help you to become a Pro from a beginner in a few days. You can explore the app by installing the new HarmonyOS update.

Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 2021 and 2022 models are receiving the latest HarmonyOS 4.2 stable update with the 4.2.0.210. It is gradually reaching all users carrying the baseline build 4.2.0.205 and 4.0.0.132/136 in the respective tablets.

It is worth mentioning that those upgrading from the beta version will fetch the GoPaint app along with the May 2024 security patch. While the rest of the users will get a huge changelog consisting of new security tools, and improved user experience.

The company has added a new storage compression feature to tablets that will increase storage by compressing duplicate files and rarely-used apps. Users can access the feature via Settings > Storage > Cleanup boost > Compression bar > group of files.

HarmonyOS 4.2 update also enhances the device system with smoother and faster app launches, task switching, and sliding animations. It boosts the global search feature and adds a new WLAN auto-connect tab for a reliable network connection.

List of features also counts better privacy capabilities like blocking in-app ads, device-cloud integration, anti-false alarm for malicious apps, better control of notifications, and a May 2024 security patch. You will also find an upgraded Huawei Reading app.

Huawei has also optimized the stylus experience. When the tablet screen is off, a single click with a stylus will directly lead you to the Notes app. To adjust the feature, go to Settings > Accessibility > Stylus > Pen-based shorthand free switch.
