Huawei MatePad Air 2024 launched with AI features, 12-inch screen, and more

On August 6th, 2024, Huawei launched the MatePad Air 2024 tablet. The new member in the Air lineup comes with a beautiful design and four elegant pastel color schemes. It packs a new display solution, better AI capabilities, and other efficient tools.

Specifications: Design

Huawei MatePad Air 2024 launched with a catchy design. Its rear lens setup resembles the Nova 12 Ultra camera, placed horizontally.  It arrives in four soft shades: Grass Green, Cherry Blossom Pink, Feather Sand White, and Smoky Gray.

The Chinese phone maker has crafted the device with high-end materials like natural mica powder to reflect a thinner and lighter feel from every side. The tablet has also gone through the pearlescent process to give a warm and comfortable touch.

MatePad Air 2024 dimensions count 183 x 270 x 5.9mm and weighs 555 grams. Huawei says the device is as light as a magazine and one can easily carry it anywhere.

Display:

The device equips a 12-inch IPS touchscreen display panel with a 2.8K resolution (2800 x 1840 pixels). It supports 280 PPI, 88% screen-to-body ratio, 16.7 million colors, P3 wide color gamut, a 144Hz refresh rate, and 1000nits peak brightness.

With a Papermatte finish, the screen reduces the light reflection by 60% over the predecessor. It also prevents interference light by 99% and offers a clear bright display, which is convenient while watching movies, reading e-books, or writing notes.

The screen-stylus connection remains smooth throughout the writing. As a result, users will get an easier and more natural feel while doing pen work on the tablet. It has already SGS low visual fatigue 2.0 gold, German TUV non-reflective, and flicker-free certification.

Camera:

Huawei has imposed a dual-camera system on the MatePad Air 2024 with a 13MP (f/1.8 + autofocus) HD main shooter and an 8MP (f/2.2 + fixed focus) wide-angle lens. The front side bears a tiny 8MP selfie lens with f/2.2 aperture).

Battery and Charging

MatePad Air 2024 adopts a 10100mAh large-capacity battery paired with 66W super fast charging. It provides 14 hours of video playback in a single charge cycle.

Accessories:

The company has integrated the support of an M-Pencil 3rd-gen stylus as well as a magnetic keyboard powered by NearLink tech. The keyboard is 308 grams yet, is incredibly thin and light.

Software System

Notes application is more fun with MatePad Air 2024. It brings amazing covers, texture templates, and stickers to generate creative notes. It also has HarmonyOS exclusive emojis to add magic to your boring note-taking procedure.

Users can opt for the AI Pinyin tool that will auto-recommend words as soon as they pick the stylus. The next feature is an AI handwriting adjuster that will help you adjust fonts to make your note beautiful. AI handwriting layout lets you easily copy-paste handwritten content and alter its text positions.

AI multi-person voice transcription feature now lets you record yourself for making notes. Apart from notes, the Born to Draw app is here with more new brushes, custom paper effects, AI smart selection, one-click recognition, picture uploading, and more.

MatePad Air 2024 also accompanies PC-level apps like WPS Office, Edraw Icons, and CAJViewer. It supports NearLink tech, and Huawei Sound with a high-res spatial model algorithm. There are six speakers with high and low frequencies to deliver immersive stereo sound effects.

Other features include a wireless dual-band antenna for faster and better signal, 2 mics, ambient light sensor, gravity sensor, hall sensor, gyro, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequency, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB Type-C.
