Huawei MatePad 11.5-inch S Smart Edition tablet is receiving its first update with a significant ‘multi-device task management’ feature. As the name suggests, it lets you easily manage several operations between multiple devices, without pausing work.

The Chinese tech maker has recently launched the MatePad 11.5-inch S tablet series for its home ground users. It brings two main variants: Standard and Smart Edition. Both models are now receiving their first update with some new add-ons and optimizations.

According to the changelog, Huawei MatePad 11.5-inch S tablets are getting the new firmware with the HarmonyOS 4.2.0.103 version. While the version is the same for both models, the changelog slightly differs.

The update contains a prominent ‘multi-device task management’ feature for the Huawei MatePad 11.5-inch S Smart Edition. Whereas, the standard variant receives system stability improvements. Note that the classic model already has this feature.

Changelog for MatePad 11.5 S tablet:

  • Optimizations: Optimizes system stability in some scenarios.

Changelog for MatePad 11.5 S Smart Edition:

  • New Feature: Added a multi-device task management feature. In the task center, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause briefly to enter. Users can view and use recent tasks on the same Huawei account device and perform management operations such as task transfer.
  • Optimization: Optimizes system stability in some scenarios.

The update is rolling out in a phased manner and will take some time to cover all the eligible units in the region. You can check the system settings to download the latest version manually.

Both the standard and the Smart Edition pack have similar specifications except for the Kirin processor. The former equips 9000WL whereas, the latter installs a 9000WM chip which makes it slightly inferior to the base variant in terms of performance.

Another twist appears in the MatePad 11.5 S 12GB RAM version with a different Kirin 9000WE. Now the company is working on another new tablet. It would be worth seeing which new Kirin chip it brings to the table.
