Huawei Mate XT tri-fold phone is in a huge buzz these days. Nearly six million customers have reserved the innovative device ahead of its official sale. This strong demand for the Huawei Mate XT led online retailers to hike the tri-fold’s prices.

A report says that many online retailers significantly increased the Huawei Mate XT online prices in China. The new listed price is three times the original cost tag.

This hike has been majorly seen in Huaqiangbei, Shenzhen. Both online as well as offline retailers priced the Mate XT at over 60-70000 yuan ($9866). For reference, the original rate of the triple-foldable smartphone is 19999 yuan ($2800).

Some online retailers like Alibaba’s Xianyu have rated the device between 30000 yuan to 100000 yuan. On the other hand, iPhone 16 series received price drops immediately after its launch. Pinduoduo adds 10% off on iPhone 16 Plus (512GB) and selling it at 8999 yuan. The standard iPhone 16 model is available at an 11% discount.

A cut-off in the iPhone 16 price just after the launch implies that Huawei once again stole Apple’s spotlight in the Chinese market. Read More…

Many retailers even claimed to deliver the new tri-fold handset on the sale day. Revealing the price aspect, one of the second-hand phone dealers – Lin Shen says:

“The prices at Huaqianbei are still very unstable. Most of the interest is from scalpers who are looking to resell the Mate XT and make a profit from the price difference.”

He adds that retailers try to take advantage of the Mate XT’s growing demand. As of now, around 6.3 million people have booked the tri-fold on the official VMall stores. Despite a tight supply, consumers are eager to grab the innovative device.

Unlike other products, Huawei hasn’t guaranteed quick or priority delivery this time. A major reason behind this limitation is the short production of the Mate XT.

Another retailer states that the resale price of the first triple foldable phone depends on whether they get the device in their hands after the official sale.

Huawei Mate XT is currently an attention-seeking device – thanks to its dual hinge solution, slim display technology, and amazing AI features. The device will go live on sale tomorrow (September 20). Let’s see how the tech giant will satisfy the 6 million+ consumers who have signed up for the Mate XT’s reservation activity.
