Huawei Mate XT supports satellite communication only when fully unfolded
Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design supports satellite communication to ensure a stable connection even with no cellular signal. It allows you to call your friends or family in times of emergency. But there’s a twist in using this satellite feature with the tri-fold.
As per official details, the Huawei Mate XT can use satellite communication only when fully unfolded. It needs to remain in the “three-screen state” to perform the satellite calling. Otherwise, the respective feature might not work accurately.
Mate XT uses the Tiantong satellite communication. Users can perform satellite calling or send and receive text messages. They can also edit the sent texts without any interruption. Just ensure that the tri-fold remains completely unfolded.
Huawei didn’t mention the main cause behind this requirement. One major reason could be the implementation of satellite components. The tech giant might have imposed most of the satellite parts or antennas in the folding part of the device.
As a result, the device must be opened to seamlessly connect with satellite and provide a smooth connection. Huawei might clear the concept in the time ahead.
The official description on the Huawei Mate XT page reads:
“Tiantong satellite communication requires activation of relevant services of the Tiantong satellite service operator. The implementation of this function is related to the service deployment of the operator. Please refer to the actual services of the local operator. To ensure flight and communication safety, please do not use the satellite communication function when the aircraft door is close. This function is only supported in the three-screen state.”
