Huawei Mate XT shipment forecast increases to 1 million units in 2024

Huawei is expected to upscale the Mate XT tri-fold phone shipment forecast and revise the initial plan from 500,000 to 1 million units.

The tech maker launched this device on September 10. As of today, it received more than 6.5 million reservations in the pre-order period. The first sale will begin sales on September 20 in China.

Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said it’s hard to tell whether Mate XT can keep up its sales momentum and future demand. There were instances when the demand for a Huawei flagship dropped rapidly after its release in the past.

Kuo said the foldable smartphone market could decline from 30 million to 15 million units this year. The decrease could be based on software experience, which is still immature for larger screens. Profit is another important aspect of foldable devices, which is demotivating brand vendors.

The analyst touched on the processor part of this tri-fold, saying that the company is lagging behind in competitive performance and it would also limit its ability to ship more devices to fulfill the demand.

Mate XT equips a 10-inch foldable display. It could be used as a fold or two phone like a smartphone or a tablet respectively.

The company has also added a couple of new camera features and optimized HarmonyOS software to adapt these screens. So far, customers are excited about this launch, which costs a lot.

However, tech enthusiasts are buying the device upfront without any second thoughts. As for now, Huawei has not revealed any official date for the Mate XT shipment.
