Huawei Mate XT available only to pre-registered users, others have to wait

Huawei Mate XT is now available to users via its first sale. But there’s a big catch. A new report says that only pre-registered customers can purchase the world’s first tri-fold handset. Others like walk-in consumers have to wait for some more time.

According to Reuters, the tri-fold sale started with a huge disappointment for walk-in customers. When consumers reached offline Huawei stores to purchase the device, they were told that it is currently available only to pre-registered users.

This means that those who have reserved the device during the pre-order activity are eligible to buy it. Other users have to wait till the Huawei Mate XT triple-foldable phone becomes available on a broader spectrum.

Many users were disappointed after this news. Huawei “super fans” who took a day off from their jobs and have been waiting out of the stores since last night were annoyed with this behavior. They shared their grief with reporters and said:

“I’ve been here since 10 p.m. last night because this tri-folding phone is a first and I’m excited to support our country. But this is very disappointing. They should have made it clear we can’t buy it.” – said a university student.

The scenes are reported from Shenzhen stores and the Huawei Wangfujing store in Beijing. The store staff informed only pre-registered users could buy the device.

The reason behind the device’s unavailability for other customers is a bit unclear. Although many users raised supply chain concerns, following this news.

Early reports said that the Huawei Mate XT will be available in limited quantities. Some analysts also predicted the Mate XT supply chain issues could leave users in disappointment. Huawei has yet to shed light on why such a situation occurred.

Alongside Huawei Mate XT, the Apple iPhone 16 series is also on sale in China. The AI-less devices said to be in low demand following the Mate XT popularity. However, the unavailability of the tri-fold for walk-in customers hints that the table might turn around.

Huawei hasn’t revealed how many units are available in total or when it solve this issue. For now, we can anticipate that the company will soon open its tri-fold sale for unlimited users.
