Huawei Mate 70 series still has time to launch in the consumer market and ahead of that, the next Mate lineup began hitting the surface. As per a new input, the Huawei Mate 80 series is expected to feature advanced in-display 3D face recognition.

An early input suggested that Huawei is promoting face recognition with their flagship products. In the upcoming years, the company may upgrade this technology with the full under-display mechanism. Now there are more insights on this matter.

Weibo tipster @FixedFocus revealed a chat screenshot with a blogger who says that the Huawei Mate 80 series supports the in-display 3D face recognition technology.

Following the leak, many netizens asked if they could see this tech with the approaching Mate 70 handsets since it’s still in development. But here are two reasons why the upcoming flagship might not feature the respective technology.

Firstly, the Mate 70 series is currently focusing on the adaptation of the HarmonyOS NEXT software system as well as the new Kirin processor. It’s also in rumors to be in trial production and can hit the mass production stage at any time.

Another reason is that Huawei has just begun preparing for the in-display 3D face recognition. The company allegedly started testing the new tech but it would probably take some time to implement it in devices for a real experience.

Hence, the Mate 80 could be the perfect smartphone lineup to bring the under-display 3D face recognition tech. But still, there’s a lot of time to find this detail accurate.

3D Face Recognition has been on Huawei’s creativity list since 2018. The OEM introduced it with Mate 20 Pro and kept it upgrading with new lineups.  Now the company is planning to make this feature more advanced with an under-display process.

The in-display 3D face tech doesn’t require a notch or punch-hole design. It will take place beneath the screen directly. This may be possible with the microscopic openings between the pixels. Being an advanced solution, it will make your device’s security more precise and appropriate even when in darker environments.

How the company will make this tech a wonder for its devices will be known later.

Regarding the Mate 70 series, this time, the company could use 3D face recognition for all models unlike the Mate 60 flagship. Last year, the standard variant didn’t support this feature. Although Huawei may change this trend in 2024!
