Huawei Mate 70 series to feature iPhone-like AI Airdrop gesture
Huawei Mate 70 series is ready to surprise everyone with a brand-new AI skill called “Airdrop Gesture”. It will eventually make media sharing easier and more interesting than ever. Today we have another teaser explaining the new AI gesture.
The tech giant posted a video clip on its Weibo account. It highlights all the powerful devices – Mate 70 series, Mate X6, as well as MatePad Pro 13.2 2025 tablet.
The video also shows several Huawei executives using the grab gesture to screenshot and share the captured image on different devices. Within a few ‘grab and release’ gestures, the image got transferred between, phones, tablets, and foldable.
Describing the new feature, the company wrote:
“Grab it and let it go, open your hands, and it will come. Huawei Mate brand ceremony, see you tomorrow! #HuaweiMate70 #HuaweiMateX6#”
Richard Yu – the Chairman of Huawei Consumer Business reposted the clip and said that the most powerful Mate in history has unlocked a new skill – AI teleportation!
The feature is similar to the iPhone’s AirDrop capability. AirDrop enables users to send and receive pictures, videos, documents, and more with a nearby Apple device. It’s wireless and doesn’t require any additional features or equipment.
Although with AI, Huawei has given a new avatar to this AirDrop feature. The video teaser further implies that the new Mate models contain trigger recognition capability. It can quickly detect the gestures to perform the related task in no time.
With this AI Airdrop gesture, you can work on the Huawei Mate 70 or other new devices when feel uncomfortable using both hands. Just swipe left and right in the air.
An early input suggested that the Huawei Mate 70 series will likely use a new and advanced AI motion sensor. This sensor will unlock many gestures, taking the user interaction to a whole new level. Thus, we may find more such additions tomorrow.
Huawei AI Airdrop gesture currently supports only the upcoming handsets:
- Huawei Mate 70 series
- Huawei Mate X6 foldable
- Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 2025 tablet
The feature uses HOTA (Huawei-Over-the-Air) support upgrade. It means the tech giant could further release this AI Airdrop gesture for other devices in the time ahead.
