On November 26, 2024, Huawei launched the Mate 70 series, its newest flagship device as it continues to release models in the face of US sanctions and gain Chinese smartphone market shares.

The new lineup consists of four models – Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 Ultimate Design. The phones have different specs based on their pricing and more numbers are available with the top models.

This year, the Chinese tech maker has updated the rear structure with a large camera design. The bump is highly visible and coming out of the back panel. A giant ring covers all camera lenses inside with a diamond-cut texture on the side.

It has a 50MP camera system consisting of a 48MP telephoto and a 40MP ultra-wide angle lens. It supports 4K videography with night mode, variable aperture photography, and more. It uses an in-house developed XMAGE imaging system to optimize images after post-capture.

The Pro model equips a 5700mAh battery, upgrading from 5000mAh in the previous lineup supporting 100W/88W wired charging.

This lineup runs the latest HarmonyOS NEXT operating system out of the box with new animations and an improved user interface. It improves smart connectivity with Huawei ecosystem devices and offers new features. Improved Ark engine ramps up gaming performance.

Huawei Mate 70 series launched with generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) technologies to power up the voice assistant. AI is also embedded into generative images, video editing, and more.

Last year, The company unveiled the Mate 60 series, its return to the dual flagship strategy after the US ban. This device has received a major pop among Chinese customers. The new device has also seen a similar reaction after the pre-sale announcement.

These new phones are now on sale in China but no announcement made for the global debut.
