Huawei Mate 70 might feature a side ultrasonic fingerprint scanner

Huawei Mate 70 is said to use a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, leaving some netizens disappointed as they were expecting the ultrasonic solution. But the company could still adopt an advanced fingerprint recognition tech for its next lineup.

FixedFocus implies that Huawei could bring an ultrasonic side fingerprint sensor with the Mate 70 series. It is a superior mechanism to a regular fingerprint scanner.

Earlier, the same tipster reported that the Mate 70/Pro models may adopt a side-mounted fingerprint sensor with better improvements. Meanwhile, other high-end variants could continue to feature an optical fingerprint solution.

Now the tipster adds more insights to this matter. Huawei Mate 70 won’t feature a simple fingerprint solution but a different ultrasonic solution. As per the leak, the firm may install an ultrasonic module in the middle frame (side fingerprint sensor).

Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensors

Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors are 50% faster and more accurate than regular ones. It generates a 3D image of the finger to capture all ridges and minute details.

The tech also uses sound waves that transmit ultrasonic pulses against your finger, when placed on a scanner. As a result, the respective solution easily captures detailed prints even when your finger is wet or dirty.

Samsung Galaxy S10e uses this technology and Huawei could adopt it for the Mate 70/Pro models. Another tipster in the comment box mentioned that this solution will feature a higher recognition rate and a larger contact area on the power key.

Mate 70 series is expected to launch in mid-November, around the 20th. It may come with new satellite features and upgraded camera functionalities. This time, the company is testing dynamic software changes that hint at the global debut of the devices.

A recent leak showcased the back cover of Mate 70. The images exhibit the side fingerprint sensor with a big area. Thus, the latest input could be in line with the official parameters.
