Huawei Mate 70 may adopt side-mounted fingerprint sensor
News regarding the Huawei Mate 70 series says the flagship lineup could use a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The capability will likely show up for the standard and Pro variants. The company may use a different solution for the high-end models.
FixedFocus notes that the standard and Huawei Mate 70 Pro variants may adopt a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Unlike the Mate 60 Pro’s in-display fingerprint scanner, the company may switch to a side unlocking solution for the Mate 70 Pro.
Ironically, the tipster says that Mate 60 Pro users who are used to optical fingerprint scanner and plan to upgrade to a new phone should adapt to the new solution.
Fingerprint Solutions for Mate series
Huawei Ascend Mate 7 was the first device to feature a fingerprint scanner (at the back). The company changed this trend with the Mate 20 Pro by featuring an under-display fingerprint sensor. Till then, the optical fingerprint solution became constant for the Mate line.
Even all Mate 60 models launched last year sport an in-display fingerprint solution. It seems Huawei will once again change this trend with the next Mate flagship.
Perhaps, the Chinese tech giant may use a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for the standard and Mate 70 Pro phones. Meanwhile, the top variants like the Pro+ and the RS Ultimate Design will likely feature the under-display fingerprint solution.
In that case, the Mate 70 Pro+ and RS Ultimate Design variant could use an all-new in-display fingerprint solution. An early report said that Huawei may use the ultrasonic fingerprint tech for its high-end Mate 70 models. Though this technology is still in development and may debut with the Mate 80 series at the earliest.
Huawei hasn’t shared any details or confirmed the current news so far. But the company keeps juggling its devices with new changes. Let’s wait for more details on this matter.
Mate 70 series is expected to release by October-end or in November. The flagship lineup has already entered mass production and will probably get a discrete launch. In the meantime, you can have a look at the expected live image of Mate 70 RS below.
