Huawei Mate 60 series effectively supports two-way satellite connectivity features and in the latest edition, the flagship lineup has reportedly tested the ultimate satellite internet technology. Not only calls or texts, but users would be able to surf internet facilities without Wi-Fi or cellular signal.

The information reveals that the China Mobile Research Institute recently held a satellite core network test for the new-generation models. The activity included the satellite internet features testing on Huawei Mate 60 series handsets.

Speaking of the equipment, the overall procedure included a testing device (Mate 60), a ground 5G base station, a ground gateway station, a satellite transceiver, a satellite-borne wireless base station, and a satellite core network.

Here, the satellite core network acts as a significant component for testing the Satellite Internet technology. It ensures improved data transmission and optimizes 5G operations to obtain better connection facilities and stable networking management.

On the other hand, it rectifies the direct connection (wired and wireless) to low-orbit satellites for certain conditions like high dynamics, large delay, narrow beam, and IP over CCSDS transmissions. The satellite core network is highly reliable and cost-effective.

So far, the satellite core network has efficiently qualified for external factors like mechanics, high and low temperature, thermal vacuum, as well as performance tests for wireless equipment.

China Mobile Research Institute mentions that it has collaborated with partners like Shanghai Microsatellite, Huawei, Aipulu, and Fusion Technology to conduct the new satellite internet testing.

Results:

In terms of outcomes, the satellite core network achieved around 5Mbps downlink rate whereas, the uplink rate is 1Mbps. The satellite forwarding rate is 230Mbps while the delay is less than 1ms. The overall performance is satisfactory.

It is worth mentioning that the Mate 60 series has completed the satellite internet testing successfully and could opt for these facilities in the time ahead. Moreover, the China Mobile Research Institute said that the new tech will be used for various devices in the future.
