Huawei Mate 50 to equip 4nm Snapdragon flagship processor, let’s dive in
Recently, the Huawei P50 series was unveiled new and powerful camera technologies. A few days ago, the lineup also began its first sale. Amid this exciting environment, a new piece of interesting news regarding its next flagship – Huawei Mate 50 is already on the Horizon.
According to a well-known Weibo tipster, the Huawei Mate 50 series could equip the Snapdragon SM8450+ chipset. Before we reach any conclusion, Let’s dive into the SM8450+ chip and learn more about it.
According to the information, this SM8450 will be the next flagship Qualcomm processor, based on 4-nanometer (nm) process technology. However, it’s not confirmed whether this chip will be manufactured by Samsung or TSMC. To be mentioned, the processor also has ‘Plus’ and a standard version.
Famous leaker – EvanBlass has previously shared information about the SM8450. This is the next-gen Qualcomm premium system-on-chip (SoC). Featuring an integrated Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF system and is fabricated on a 4nm process tech.

- Kryo 780 CPU built on ARM Cortext v9 technology
- Adreno 730 GPU
- Spectra 680 ISP
- Up to 1GHz mmWave downlink and 400Mhz Sub-6D
- Qualcomm secure processing unit (SPU260)
- Support for Qualcomm FASTConnect 6900 subsystem
- Support for the quad-channel package on package LPDDR5 RAM
- Adreno 665 video processing unit (VPU)
- Adreno 1195 display processing unit (DPU)
These are the specs for the standard SM8450 and it’s yet to find out what extra the Plus version has to offer. Therefore, it’ll be very interesting to see what the Huawei Mate 50 series could do with these new chipsets if launched.
Current process:
Tipster DigitalChatStation, revealed that the SM8450 is being manufactured by Samsung and its performance has been increased by 20 percent compared to the previous generation. However, there seems to be some kind of heat issues and we may not see it until next year.
Still, there’s no confirmation on the launch date of the Snapdragon SM8450 processor, as we await more hints on this matter.
Supplies after December:
A report reveals that Huawei’s latest flagship – Huawei P50 Series will solely sell with Snapdragon 888 4G processor around December this year. Reflecting that Huawei planning to emphasize Snapdragon processors and use them in every model due to the lack of Kirin chipsets.
Furthermore, the Snapdragon-powered Huawei models will have sufficient chip supplies after December. In the awakening, Huawei phones with Snapdragon 888 chips will become the mainstream models made by the company.
More interestingly, the report also claimed the upcoming Huawei Mate 50 and a new foldable phone will feature a new Snapdragon processor.
Huawei P50:
After a long time, Huawei adopted the Snapdragon processor in its flagship devices and unveiled the Huawei P50 series package with SD 888 processor alongside Kirin 9000. Yet these chips are locked on the 4G network due to some component-related issue.
Huawei Mate 50 series launch:
Currently, Huawei has not made any official announcement regarding the launch of the Huawei Mate 50 lineup but it depends on when Qualcomm is actually driving in its new processor and present it among the device makers.
