Huawei Mate 40 series to equip a new camera technology that improves wide-angle photography
Huawei P40 series has been a massive upgrade over its predecessor P30 series, as well as the Huawei Mate 30 series. The new P40 devices equip the new Ultra Vision Leica camera, which is one of the best in the industry.
And according to a new report, Huawei has planned to improve the camera system even more in the upcoming Huawei Mate 40 series.
Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, says Huawei is expected to use a ‘Free-form lens’ in the high-end version of the new Mate series model. Scheduled to launch in the second half of 2020, reported Ithome.
Kuo said the new Free-Form lens can improve the wide-angle deformation but he did not reveal the exact information the changes in photography. Huawei has also patented a free-form lens (maybe particularly for smartphones) technology.
According to the information found online, a free-form lens is a digital lens with curvatures generated, not molded, on at least one side. The use of a free-form lens improves the sharpness of vision at all distances and results in a more precise level of visual fine-tuning in view.
The use of this new type of lens will surely improve not only the photo quality but also the visual details at all distances, which most of the time distorts due to the focal length of the lens.
Currently, Kuo didn’t reveal too much on this technology but we’ll keep you posted on this matter.
