Huawei Mate 20 series was launched in 2018 and comes with a 7nm Kirin 980 processor, powerful camera system, and software technology. This lineup also consists of the first 5G phone from the company, Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, which equips dual 7nm chips including Balong 5000 to provide NSA/SA dual-mode 5G support.

The Huawei Mate 20 series comes in five models:

  • Huawei Mate 20
  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro
  • Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design
  • Huawei Mate 20 X 4G
  • Huawei Mate 20 X 5G

To be mentioned, the Huawei Mate 20 series was introduced with EMUI 9.1 and currently runs EMUI 11 version. This update cycle shows that Mate flagship received regular software and major updates from time to time.

Adding to this, Huawei released a brand new operating system, HarmonyOS 2.0 for smartphones on June 2. Simultaneously, the company has opened the HarmonyOS 2.0 closed beta testing pool for 28 devices in the first phase, which also includes Mate 20 series.

Throughout the testing phase, Huawei will send a number of the beta software updates for the Huawei Mate 20 series that will bring different patches and feature improvements for the beta devices.

July 23, 2021:

July 16, 2021:

The latest firmware version for the Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X 4G, and Mate 20 RS Porsche design optimizes Service Widgets and Display quality.

June 24, 2021:

  • Second HarmonyOS 2.0 closed beta update- HarmonyOS 2.0 version 2.0.0.127

This update brings optimizations for sound, display, WiFi stability, and contact app to enhance the overall system performance.

June 6, 2021

  • First HarmonyOS 2.0 closed beta update- HarmonyOS 2.0 version 2.0.0.116

HarmonyOS 2.0 beta for Huawei Mate 20 devices installs a brand new operating system as compared to Android-based EMUI 11. And brings a new home screen, control panel, service center, HarmonyOS font, smoother sharing, smart home connection, advanced security features, China’s highest security certification, and more to provide a new user experience.
