Huawei made 3-quarter streak defeating Apple in global wearable battle
Huawei and Apple have been wrestling in the global wearable arena and the former has won the crown. Yes, the Chinese tech giant has remained at the top point in the worldwide smartwatch ranking for the three consecutive quarters this year.
Both Huawei and Apple are the top gamers in the tech world. The former built a strong position on its home turf, while the latter rules the global sector in many aspects.
Although this year, Huawei has significantly given a tough fight to Apple in almost every category. The company launched the AI-packed Mate XT tri-fold and Mate 70 which eventually dimmed the glow of the iPhone 16 series in China.
It is also ahead of Apple in terms of the Chinese tablet shipment race. But something that has caught everyone’s attention these days is how Huawei has knocked down Apple in the global wearable battle by making a 3-quarter streak.

IDC report shows that Huawei ranked first in global smartwatch shipments in the first three quarters of this year. The Chinese OEM has shipped around 23.6 million units from Q1 to Q3 this year and obtained 16.9% of the market share.
The company’s overall global wearable sales surged by 44.3%YoY. On the flip side, Apple is closely following Huawei at the second spot. It has sold 22.5 million wearables and obtained a 16.2% market share. Though it has declined by 12.8% YoY.
Huawei’s win due to innovation!
A special credit behind Huawei’s new achievement goes to the Watch GT 5 models and Watch D2 launched in Q3 2024. Both wrist gadgets feature the TruSense health system which improves health monitoring and delivers faster as well as more accurate results. These devices receive immense support in the global market.
Speaking of Apple, the company grabbed the first position in the worldwide smartwatch market in Q3. Though the win was temporary. The iPhone maker has been challenged by many rivals over pricing and lagged in terms of innovation.
Other rankers in the list count Xiaomi with 20.5 million wearable shipments. Samsung received fourth place with an annual growth rate of 24.3% and 11.5 million unit sales. BBK secured the fifth rank with 7.8 million shipments and 25.9% YoY growth.
Huawei is slowly regaining its value in both the Chinese and global markets. Though some wins don’t mean there aren’t challenges for it. Let’s wait and see how the company manages to grab the crown of the global smartphone race in the future.
