Huawei launches Mate X6 foldable with bigger screens, new camera setup, AI features, and more
It’s November 26, and Huawei launches the all-new Mate X6 foldable for its consumers. The dynamic folding phone has stepped on the stage with bigger than ever screens, a distinct rear camera setup, and a range of exciting yet helpful AI capabilities.
Display
Huawei Mate X6 features a 7.93-inch internal display panel and a 6.45-inch external screen. The display panels are slightly larger than the predecessor. For reference, the Mate X5 has a 7.85-inch inner screen and a 6.4-inch outer display slate.
The inner screen supports a peak brightness of 1800 nits, 2440 x 1080 pixels resolution, LTPO 2.0 screen solution with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1440Hz PWM dimming.
The outer display panel can be 2500 nits of maximum brightness, 2440 x 2240 pixels resolution, LTPO 2.0 display with a 120Hz refresh rate, immersive display solution, and 1440Hz PWM dimming. The viewing experience will be at its peak.
Appearance and Architecture
Speaking of the design, the device carries a unique glass back cover this time which exhibits a marble-like structure that shines in a unique Nebula Gray shade. There are two back shell variants: glass panel and plain leather. For colors, you can choose from five shades: Gray, White, Red, Sea Blue, and Black.
Huawei has crafted the Mate X6 with distributed basalt material, making the device tougher against external damage. The new architecture combines an innovative carbon fiber screen support with a 380GPa material that boosts the stiffness by 65%.
Meanwhile, the body adopts ultra-strong wing aluminum with a strength of 550MPa and increases the overall strength by 37% to make the phone stronger in all aspects.
Software and AI
Huawei Mate X6 comes out of the box with HarmonyOS NEXT and several AI features. Users can enjoy the Airdrop gesture to share media content from one device to another without even touching the screen. One can even play basketball interactively with the AI Air Shooting gesture.
Camera
Huawei Mate X6 launches with a 50MP super light zoom RYYB main camera. The lens supports a 10-speed adjustable variable aperture (F1.4-F4.0), and OIS. It further has a 40MP ultrawide-angle shooter, an infrared sensor (primary color camera), and a 48MP telephoto macro sensor with 4x optical zoom and RYYB array support.
Mate X6 has two models: Standard and Collector’s Edition. The tech giant has made the Collector’s Edition even more special with the triple-network satellite support.
Yes, the device can feature two-way satellite messaging, two-way calling, and low-orbit satellite internet which is currently in testing. Although the company could initiate its public testing in the second half of the next year (Q3 2025).
Price
Huawei Mate X6 and Mate X6 Collector’s Edition comes in two storage variants. The Standard model with 12GB RAM + 256GB variant is priced at 12,999 yuan, and the 12GB + 512GB variant is for 13,999 yuan. Meanwhile, the Collector’s Edition 16GB + 512GB version is for 14,999 yuan and the 16GB + 1TB is for 15,999 yuan.
