Huawei Kirin PC chip performance heat

Huawei Kirin PC chip could come into action soon and a recent leak says that it will mainly focus on performance and heat control. Although the input also reveals that the computer-dedicated processor might lack in an important aspect. Let’s find out!

According to a Weibo tipster @BeijingMaster, Huawei will focus more on performance and heat control with the upcoming Kirin PC chip. It might provide more productive and stable functioning and effectively manage the computer’s temperature.

But the Kirin PC chip is expected to be less power efficient than the phone chipset. This could be a major drawback for computer-based processors in the future.

Power efficiency refers to the capability of a device to use less energy or minimal wastage of power while performing a specific operation. This not only increases the device’s durability but also ensures a reliable user experience.

Huawei has not commented on this news nor it has mentioned anything about its PC dedicated processor so far. Hence it would be better to take this input with a grain of salt. Although we may grab more details on this subject in the time ahead.

Kirin PC chip = Apple M3?

An early leak said that Huawei could use the latest Taishan V130 for its PC chip to make its performance match that of the Apple M3 processor. Launched in October 2023, M3 is the first laptop and desktop chipset to uproot on a 3nm process.

Thus performance efficiency doesn’t seem to be a concerning point with Kirin PC chip. Huawei also allegedly aims to build Kirin PC Pro and Max versions just like Apple.

Kirin PC launch, when?

Another input says that Huawei could unveil its first Kirin PC notebook by the end of the second quarter of this year. This notebook is likely to be a commercial product (Qingyun) while the MateBook devices may receive this upgrade later in 2024.

Huawei is yet to make an official statement on this matter though we may find more details soon.
