Huawei Mate 60 series marks the return of 5G connectivity in Huawei smartphones despite not announcing this capability in public.

And recently, Huawei started sending an interesting notification to the entire Huawei Mate 60 series users to enable 5G network access in their devices.

Some user suggests that this notification appeared after the HarmonyOS 4.0.0.132 software version, which was released in mid-November for the entire lineup.

According to the changelog of this update, the phone is getting new optimizations for network, Bluetooth, and system. The upgrade includes new stability for the Wi-Fi features for the Huawei Mate 60 Pro in some situations to provide a stable internet connection.

Huawei Mate 60 users reacted that the phone sent this notification for the first time and reminded them to enable a 5G switch.

In August, Huawei released the Huawei Mate 60 Pro and made headlines for its ambiguous chipset called Kirin 9000s. Several tests reveal that Kirin 9000s could increase up to 1000Mbps of internet speed, which is far more than a 4G network.

This clearly shows that the phone has advanced network performance similar to 5G. In promotions and launch events, Huawei is not promoting this new Kirin chip or its 5G capability for the Huawei Mate 60 series.

Despite sending a notification, the Huawei Mate 60 series doesn’t offer a 5G switch in the mobile data settings. So, it could be a glitch because the company is already fetching 5G mobile data for the Mate 60 series users.
